Are you a Veteran? If so, we would like to thank you for your commitment and sacrifices made while defending our freedom and honoring our nation. Did you know that you might be eligible for adaptive equipment, and for repair, replacement, or reinstallation required because of disability or for the safe operation of a vehicle purchased with VA assistance? The adaptive equipment you're eligible for could include a complete wheelchair van or handicap van conversion.
100% service-connected Veterans are eligible for special benefits when purchasing a wheelchair van. As a Veteran, the VA will provide you with up to two handicap van conversions every four years.
In fact, a Veteran may be able to get into a new handicap van every two years with little or no out-of-pocket expense. Here's a sample of what you might expect if you purchased a new 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan with a Braun Entervan Wheelchair Van Conversion and traded in a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan with a Braun Entervan Handicap Van Conversion, in excellent condition with 24,000 miles. Here's how:
| Purchase a new 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan | $25,000.00 |
| Manufacturer's Rebate | -$2,000.00 |
| Mobility Rebate | -$1,000.00 |
| Total Price | $22,000.00 |
| Trade in 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan with wheelchair van conversion | -$22,000.00 |
| Purchase a new handicap van conversion for 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan | $21,000.00 |
| VA Reimbursement for wheelcair van conversion | -$21,000.00 |
| Total out-of-pocket expense | $0.00 |

As a Veteran with a service-connected loss of one or both hands or feet, permanent impairment of vision of both eyes to a certain degree, or ankylosis (immobility) of one or both knees or one or both hips, you may also be eligible for a one-time payment of up to $11,000 from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs toward the purchase of a vehicle. If you haven't used it yet, you could use it toward the purchase of your new wheelchair van or handicap van conversion.
To see if you are eligible for these benefits, please contact the United States Department of Veterans Affairs directly. For more information on how we can help get you into a new wheelchair van or handicap van using your VA benefits, please contact us today!
